Mini Uttapam


💛 Ingredients 💛


For batter:

  • 3 cups rice

  • 1 cup urad dal

  • 1/2 cup yogurt

  • Salt to taste

  • Water as required


For Uttapam:

  • Capsicum, chopped

  • Tomato, chopped

  • Green chilies, chopped

  • Coriander, chopped

  • Chilli powder to sprinkle

  • Cumin to sprinkle

  • Oil/butter


💚 Instructions 💚


For batter:

  • Soak rice and urad dal in warm water for at least 4 hours.

  • Once soaked wash it three times with clean water.

  • Now shift it to a blender, add yogurt & water to it and blend until smooth.

  • Shift the batter to a deep bowl, cover, and let it rest overnight or at least for 3-4 hours.

  • Add salt to it and mix well.


For uttapam:

  • Heat a non stick pan on medium heat and apply a little bit of oil/butter.

  • Spread about 1/4 cup batter to form an mini uttapam. (You can make it thick or thin as per your like.)

  • Then spread 1 tablespoon of capsicum, tomato, green chili and coriander on the uttapam.

  • Sprinkle some red chili powder and cumin seeds.

  • Top it with some more butter.

  • You will start seeing air bubbles form in the middle and the sides will start to turn golden brown. The top batter will also start to look dry/cooked.

  • Carefully pickup the uttapam, flip it over.

  • Allow the top side to cook for 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Take the uttapam out and serve with the topping side up with coconut chutney or your favorite sauce.
